If there's one thing DJ Warras is going to do, it's share his opinion.

The presenter had some choice words on the Paul O’Sullivan and Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi saga.

Forensic investigator O’Sullivan and KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Mkhwanazi first had a fallout when O’Sullivan criticised Mkhwanazi's decision to go public with his corruption allegations.

Mkhwanazi made headlines when he claimed that criminal syndicates were using politicians to hinder police investigations.

O’Sullivan demanded Mkhwanazi's dismissal, saying he had overstepped his boundary.

"It is not the job of the provincial commissioner to start accusing the government, the judiciary, the National Prosecuting Authority and the minister of police, for that matter, of being criminals. That is what he did today, and I want to see that man fall and the sooner the better."

The police chief has now hit back and filed a R5 million damages lawsuit against O’Sullivan, as he believes the comments were to defame him.

It seems Mkhwanazi can rely on Warras to be in his corner. The 39-year-old gave the defamation lawsuit a "thumbs up" in a post on X.

"Good! 👍🏽 Paul O'Sullivan involved himself, almost immediately. As though the exposure or CORRUPTION somehow upset him? That was super weird. Terribly timed, unprepared and VERY impulsive IMO (in my opinion). Man was on the news within the hour? How?
"It was giving: 'Desperate to character assassinate someone exposing my friends'."

DJ Warras' followers agreed with his view, with some saying Paul O'Sullivan had a questionable loyalty to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

"O’Sullivan is upset that he wasn’t granted an opportunity to sweep things under the rug?"

"I’m not sure if Paul simply loves Cyril as a man, or if his love is driven by something more sinister, like a hatred or despise and utter contempt for Jacob Zuma..."

DJ Warras airs his thoughts

It's not the first time DJ Warras has candidly shared his thoughts on the Mkhwanazi matter.

The former Gagasi FM host criticised President Ramaphosa for setting up a commission of inquiry into the General's allegations, rather than taking conclusive actions.

"[Mkhwanazi] is saying he's got the WhatsApp conversations between him and this individual, and the answer by Number One and our government is, ‘Let us discuss it over the next six months.’ What the hell?"

He also claimed police in Durban were accepting bribes from criminals to look the other way.

“If you've been to Durban and you go to Point, it's been overrun, heavy Nigerian presence, well known that there's drugs that move there, well known that there's other crimes that those police that we spoke about that are on the levels E and D are well paid by these guys to leave them alone."

Julius Malema slams Ad Hoc Committee decision

Briefly News previously reported on the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) president, Julius Malema, who slammed the Ad Hoc Committee, established to investigate the allegations, for not selecting General Mkhwanazi to appear at the hearing.

Mkhwanazi was instead committed to the newly established Madlanga Commission of Inquiry for five days from 17 September 2025.

Malema called it unreasonable and irrational not to subpoena Mkhwanazi.
