Popular musician DJ Karri topped social media trends this weekend, when he bought Tebogo Mashego a plane ticket to return to South Africa after he

DJ Karri topped social media trends after purchasing Tebogo Mashego's plane ticket home, following Mashego's online plea for donations while stuck in Nigeria.

Mashego previously made headlines when doctors danced to his song Biri Marung, which became a hit in Mzansi.

Social media user Aubrey Senyolo shared a video on his X on Saturday, 20 September 2025, showing Mashego returning home after his emotional plea for help from Nigeria.

Pupils sing Biri Marung in a choir style in a TikTok video

In more entertainment news, Briefly News previously reported that a group of school learners posted a TikTok video of their own local performance of an Amapiano hit song.

The TikTok of a viral banger featuring DJ Maphorisa has been subject to many dance challenges, but a group of teenagers tackled it using their voices.

Many South Africans were thoroughly impressed by the talent that the students showed with their rendition of a popular amapiano track.
