Beauty queen Melissa Nayimuli, who is currently representing South Africa at the Miss Universe 2025 competition in Thailand, has failed to impress South Africans on social media.

Nayimuli, who previously broke her silence about her Miss Universe 2025 title, caused a buzz online for her swimsuit edition.

Entertainment blogger Musa Khawula shared a video of Melissa's swimsuit at the Miss Universe competition on his X account on Friday, 14 November 2025.

"A look at Melissa Nayimuli at the 2025 Miss Universe pageant in Thailand for the Swimsuit Fashion Show," wrote Khawula.

South Africans respond to the clip

@Waylonjunior said:

"Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala made a questionable choice, sending her to represent at Miss Universe in Thailand."

@by_greatest replied:

"We don’t recognise her!"

@Tebogo16_09 responded:

"A ka se winne," (She won't win).

@Mama_Bridgie commented:

"There is nothing South African about her; that no DNA thing is real. She is there representing Simphiwes' wife, not South Africa."

@yilu_ultra wrote:

"This lady is beautiful; however, she is not Miss South Africa nor Miss Universe calibre. Sending her to represent our country in this way is a shame. I'd rather we sat out this year. Compared to bo (the likes of) Ndavi, Shudu, and Lalela, she doesn't meet the standard, I'm sad to say."

@_therealshokii said:

"Ngathi akafuni," (it's like she doesn't want to be there).

@TreyBalla replied:

"Definitely not a Miss Universe prototype. She must enjoy the holiday. I need them to take that license away from Bokang Montjane."

@busangDitumo said:

"She’s wearing Bokang's hair."

@TumiNkosi responded:

"How did she make it here? Is she Miss SA a runner-up or?"

@libongwechibi wrote:

"I'm not amused; surely she's not a South African."

@inyemba_kamwi commented:

"Miss Universe pageant this year is giving a local pageant! There’s just a finesse that’s lacking."

@ZuluLunzulu responded:

"How did she win?"

@mah31935 reacted:

"This globalisation agenda is bul*sh*t. There is absolutely nothing about this girl that says South African."

@leah_leehh said:

"She’s just adding numbers, nje, she won’t win."
