South African actress Amanda du-Pont has made a hefty monetary donation to Women for Change ahead of a major protest.

The majority of popular South African celebrities heeded Women for Change’s call to change their social media profiles to the colour purple in support of victims and survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). Women for Change wants the South African government to declare GBV a national disaster.

Amanda du-Pont makes hefty donation to Women for Change

Amanda du-Pont has moved beyond changing her profile picture to purple and supported Women for Change’s cause with a R100,000 donation made through her skin care brand Lelive.

Speaking to TshisaLive, Amanda du-Pont acknowledged that GBV affects not only women but also men and children after contributing R100,000 to Women for Change. She gave a shout-out to the men who have shown support for Women for Change’s anti-GBV movement.

“I just want to acknowledge that this happens across all genders and to children as well. There are some incredible men behind the movement, so we are no longer standing alone, and we welcome our entire community to stand with us. To whoever has been affected, we stand and fight for you too,” Amanda du-Pont said.

Women for Change lauds Amanda du-Pont for record-breaking donation

In an interview with the same publication, Women for Change founder Sabrina Walter confirmed that Amanda du-Pont’s R100,000 donation is the largest financial contribution the organisation has ever received from an individual or brand.

Walter expressed her gratitude to the former Skeem Saam actress for the hefty donation.

“I am crying seeing this. This is the largest donation we have ever received, and knowing that it came from such a beautiful, courageous woman makes it even more meaningful. I am so proud of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Sabrina Walter said.

On Friday, 21 November 2025, Women for Change will embark on a 15-minute shutdown. The shutdown is expected to bring women together for a 15-minute standstill at 12 pm on Friday, on the eve of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, to honour the 15 women murdered each day in South Africa.
