A statement allegedly by popular dancer Skomota has set social media alight after he appeared to take the blame for the leaked bedroom video involving his close friend and fellow performer Limpopo Boy and the dancer's lover, Matshediso Matilda.
The statement, which circulated online on 11 August 2026, included a photo of the two dancers alongside a lengthy written apology directed at Limpopo Boy and Matshediso Matilda. In it, Skomota admitted to having had access to Limpopo Boy's cellphone and claimed the sensitive footage was shared online by mistake.
"I am writing this letter to sincerely apologise for what happened involving your cellphone and the video that was posted online by mistake. I deeply regret my actions and understand that the situation may have caused you embarrassment, distress, and inconvenience. I take full responsibility for what happened and sincerely apologise for not being more careful when using the cellphone."
He went on to take accountability, saying his actions were not intentional and promising to take greater care in the future when handling people's phones and personal content.

"Please know that it was never my intention to cause you harm or disrespect your privacy. I am truly sorry for the situation, and for any pain or embarrassment it may have caused. I ask that you please accept my sincere apology. I will learn from this mistake and ensure that I handle other people's personal information and devices with much greater care and respect in the future. The two performers share a well-documented friendship and frequently travel and work together. Limpopo Boy previously spoke to Briefly News about their dynamic, noting that working with Skomota required considerable patience.

Mzansi weighs in on Skomota's statement
Despite the apology, many South Africans were not buying the story. A significant number of social media users felt Skomota was being used to deflect blame from Limpopo Boy.
GlobalSouthNew said:
"Now they want to make Skomota the fall guy."
MzikayiseMagida was unimpressed:
"Limpopo Boy blaming poor Skomota for something he didn't do, that's bullying, disturbing, disrespectful and pathetic. He can't take responsibility for his actions. We won't let Skomota be used like this 'cause you can't keep your zip up."
BlaqSabali suggested:
"They should have just made a quick music video and turned the whole shinanigan into some sort of a PR stunt. Why are they lazy to think? Using Skomota as a scapegoat is just low."
kheswa_thenjiwe added:
"Blaming poor Skomota for something he didn't do."
Others pointed out that, regardless of who leaked the footage, the underlying issue remained: Limpopo Boy and Matshediso Matilda were allegedly involved in an extramarital affair, a revelation that carries its own serious reputational consequences for the dancer independent of the leak itself.
