Tyrese Gibson is bringing his R&B catalogue to South Africa this month, and his visit could stretch far beyond a single night on stage.
The Grammy-nominated singer, actor and producer will headline the closing night of Ndlala Grandeur II at Ndlala Arena in Pretoria on Sunday, 23 August 2026. The three-day celebration of timeless R&B runs from 21 to 23 August and brings together international artists and South African talent on one bill.
Tyrese's big African ambitions
Tyrese made his intentions clear in a social media post that has been widely shared. Because the flight from the United States to South Africa is approximately 22 hours, he said it made sense to stay longer and make the most of the trip. He said:

"Hello! I'm headed to Johannesburg, South Africa, where I'm performing Sunday, August 23. Since it's a 22-hour journey, I want to maximise my time in Africa and stay for another three weeks, possibly up to one month.”
He added that his schedule is open from 24 August 2026 through to February 2027, and that he is actively seeking 'full concerts, festivals, private and corporate performances, club appearances and hosting across multiple cities and countries.' He stressed that all opportunities must be paid, and that any serious offers must go directly to his manager, Mona Scott Young, who is the only person authorised to negotiate on his behalf.
Tyrese said he has already secured three bookings and is hoping to add another six or seven before his African chapter wraps up.

According to The Citizen, Tyrese is not the only major name on the line-up. Case, the two-time Grammy-nominated R&B singer best known for hits including ‘Touch Me, Tease Me’, ‘Missing You’ and ‘Living It Up’, takes centre stage on Saturday, 22 August.
Ginuwine, a member of the R&B supergroup TGT alongside Tyrese and Tank, is also among the performers. The three men have a long shared history in the genre, which gives the event an added layer of nostalgia for fans.
