Former politician and African Renaissance Podcast host Mbuyiseni Ndlozi sparked a heated online debate on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, after responding to a provocative post by Afrikaner activist Ernst Roets that compared the duration of apartheid rule to the ANC's time in power.

Roets posted a breakdown pointing out that the apartheid system ran for 42 years, from 1948 to 1990, while the ANC has governed for 32 years since 1994, amounting to roughly 76% of the time apartheid was in place.

Ndlozi did not hold back in his reply. Rather than dismissing Roets' framing, he turned his sharpest words on the ruling party, arguing that the ANC's record had done the real damage.

"The sheer incompetence, laziness, & utter greed of the ANC over the decades has resulted in the confirmation of the worst racist notions about Africans: we are incapable of self-rule! This very confidence to post such a statement by white supremacists is the ANC's biggest legacy: your failure has made all who look down on us ever so confident!" Ndlozi wrote.

The post drew a wave of responses, with opinions cutting in several directions.

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi unveils new grassroots movement

Mbuyiseni Ndlozi's post targeting the ANC comes after he released a document pushing for a grassroots political movement called the Batho Pele Convention, as reported by Briefly News.

Ndlozi argued that South Africans have been trapped in a 'beggar-voter' mentality that keeps them dependent on failing government institutions.
