South Africans Write to Zola Primary School to Verify Chidimma Adetshina's Enrollment

The controversy surrounding former Miss SA contestant and Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Chidimma Adetshina has taken a fresh twist, with South African social media activists going as far as writing directly to her alleged former primary school in Soweto to demand answers.

The X account _Tee__G, operating under the banner Born-in-SA, shared screenshots of a formal email sent to Zola Primary School. The message asked school administrators to confirm whether official learner enrollment records exist for Adetshina covering Grade 1 through Grade 5.

"We have written to Zola Primary School to request verification of Chidimma Adetshina's claim that she attended the school from Grade 1 to Grade 5. We will wait for the school's response and share the outcome with the people of South Africa," the account wrote.

What the email asked for

The email was careful to draw a line around what it was requesting. The sender stated explicitly that no sensitive personal information was being sought, including home addresses, parent details, academic reports, or ID numbers, citing learner privacy laws. The group committed to sharing any response they receive with the public.

User Tee__G also indicated that all gathered information would eventually be forwarded to the High Court of South Africa, describing Adetshina's situation as ‘a threat to the democracy of the country.’ Critics of the campaign, however, argued that citizenship and identity matters should be left to law enforcement and the Department of Home Affairs, rather than online activists.
