Two of Durban's biggest musical exports have finally joined forces on a full-length project. Nasty C and Tellaman officially released their collaborative album, *T's & C's Apply*, a body of work that brings Hip Hop, R&B and African sounds together without forcing either artist into a corner.
The creative partnership between the two has been building for years, but the turning point came during a studio session for Nasty C's *FREE* project. It was while working on the track "Big Timing" that the idea of a full collaboration album truly clicked. Speaking to Slikour on Life, Tellaman said:
"The moment we realised that the collaboration had a lot of potential to become a complete album was when we were working on 'Big Timing' for FREE a year back. That is when we locked in to really solidify what the T's & C's direction entails sonically."
What T's & C's apply sounds like
Nasty C brings sharp lyricism, raw bars and harmonic moments to the project, while Tellaman moves fluidly between melodic hooks and R&B-tinged flows. Neither artist sounds like he is stepping out of place; rather, the album creates room for both to stretch. Nasty C explained:

"For us, it has really been about creating something so authentic and so rich in detail whenever we get in the studio. It is a blend that many enjoy across our past works together, so we saw it fit to bring it into this project whilst still expressing our individual growths sonically and lyrically."
Recorded primarily in Johannesburg over more than a year, the album features appearances from Oxlade, Blxckie, Lusanda and CrownedYung. AyandaMVP also plays a unique role, serving as the voice of ‘Isinqa FM,’ a concept that adds a world-building layer to the listening experience.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The title is a clever nod to both artists. The ‘T’ stands for Tellaman and the ‘C’ for Nasty C, but the meaning runs deeper than a name game. Nasty C concluded:
"It was simply a play on words that not only serves as an invitation into our world, but also as a way to express how we feel without any limitations. The project is about the breaking and establishment of rules that make us human, such as living life to its fullest and allowing oneself to be hurt. Pain can hurt for some time, but it can also make room for healing and positivity."
Beyond the album itself, both artists are hoping ‘T's & C's Apply’ challenges how African music is categorised.
Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest collaborated on a hit together
Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C have officially released the music video for their new song, Lil Mama.
Cassper directed the 70s disco-inspired visual through his Billiato Production company, boldly calling it ‘the music video of the year’.
