Lady Gaga's "Mother Monster" title has taken on a whole new meaning. The pop icon, 40, and her fiancé Michael Polansky, 42, were photographed out in public for the first time since Page Six confirmed the couple had welcomed their first child together.

The rare outing took place in Northern California, where Gaga was spotted holding her newborn snugly against her chest as she walked alongside Polansky and her agent, Alexandra Trustman. She kept a protective hand over the infant throughout, offering just a brief but tender glimpse into the family's new normal.

A notoriously private couple goes public

The sighting marks a significant moment for the couple, who have gone to great lengths to keep their personal life out of the spotlight. Gaga stepped back from public appearances after wrapping her Mayhem Ball tour in April, and the pair managed to stay largely under the radar in the months that followed.

Despite the privacy, sources say the transition into parenthood has been a joyful one. A source told PEOPLE that the couple "beam when they talk about being parents," adding that both took time away from work to focus on their newborn.

The two famously met Gaga's mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who met Polansky through philanthropic work. According to Vanity Fair, Germanotta told her daughter, "I think I just met your husband." The couple started dating in 2020 and were engaged four years later.

The Grammy-winning artist had been candid about her hopes for motherhood well before the baby arrived. In a 2025 interview with The New York Times, she opened up about the kind of parent she hoped to be.

"I'm excited to be a mom. I used to have a lot of apprehension about it. The thing that's the most important to me is to not force my children to live a life that they are not choosing. So the more that we can give them space to discover who they are on their own, that's the thing that I believe in the most."

Gaga also reflected on the tension between a career built around self-expression and the selflessness that parenthood demands.

"I'm also kind of at war with myself sometimes as I get ready to, hopefully, become a mom soon. Like, today is wonderful, but the whole day has revolved around me. There's an incredible amount of narcissism in this."

The Bad Romance singer's candour about her internal conflict made the California stroll all the more meaningful - a quiet, real-world moment that showed she had stepped fully into the chapter she had long been preparing for.
