Sportscaster Jessica Nkomo has broken her silence on the death of her colleague Owen Ndlovu, sharing a painful detail about the moments before his body was discovered.
Posting on X under the handle @Auntydiski on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, Nkomo revealed that colleagues were gathered in the studio when they were first told Owen Ndlovu had gone missing. What followed left her visibly shaken.
Colleagues' reaction leaves Nkomo devastated
According to Nkomo, several of Ndlovu's so-called friends and colleagues laughed when they heard he was missing. Hours later, the news broke that he had been found dead.

"Today I lost a colleague, Owen Ndlovu 💔💔💔😭😭😭. I think what angers me the most is we were told (colleagues) in studio of him missing, and a handful of his "friends" and colleagues laughed at the matter & a few hours later he was found lifeless 😭😭 I'm so pained," she wrote.
She later posted a tribute that read:
"Oh my Leader 😭💔💔💔💔 Rest In Peace, Ta Owen!! I know Mzansi Fundis won’t be the same without your energy and aura! You brought your all each week on set 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️"

What happened to Owen Ndlovu?
According to his family, Ndlovu was hijacked and kidnapped on Tuesday night, 15 September 2026, in Katlehong on Gauteng's East Rand. He had been on his way to collect his wife from church when three men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, accosted him.
Residents in the nearby area of Thokoza discovered his body on Wednesday morning. His family released a formal statement confirming his passing on Wednesday afternoon.
