Minnie Dlamini has spoken out about the furore surrounding Podcast and Chill with MacG, tying the latest controversy to her ongoing legal battle against the show's hosts as she called out what she sees as a persistent failure to hold people accountable.
The presenter is currently suing MacG Mukwevho and Sol Phenduka for R2.5 million over comments made during an April 2025 episode. While discussing her split from plastic surgeon Dr Brian Monaisa, MacG questioned why Dlamini "cannot keep men" and made a derogatory remark about her personal hygiene. Dlamini alleges the fallout damaged her reputation, affected her ability to earn a living, and cost her a proposed Nivea campaign worth R897,000.
Although she said the active court case prevented her from going into detail, she was unambiguous about her resolve.
"This is larger than me," she told News24. "In my view, there continues to be a concerning lack of genuine accountability, seemingly only emerging when public pressure becomes impossible to ignore."

Minnie Dlamini responds to Tsontso backlash
Her statement arrived in the wake of fresh criticism directed at the podcast over remarks made about runner Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo, 38, who was reported missing on 9 September after going for a run in Rhodesfield, Kempton Park. During an episode recorded that Sunday, while Moselakgomo was still missing, MacG and Phenduka made jokes about her disappearance. The comments were widely condemned given South Africa's ongoing gender-based violence and femicide crisis. Phenduka later issued a public apology, acknowledging his words were distasteful and inappropriate.
Dlamini expressed grief for those close to Moselakgomo and spoke to the fear many women experience daily.
"My heart goes out to the victims and their loved ones. It is a frightening reality to be a woman in South Africa today," she said.
She also challenged the framing of harmful speech as harmless fun.
"We cannot expect to change how women are treated in this country while their public degradation continues to be dismissed as entertainment," Dlamini said.
MacG's legal response and DStv exit
MacG has pushed back on elements of Dlamini's claim, characterising his original remarks as speculative and saying he had no intention of causing harm. He has indicated a willingness to engage in mediation and undergo gender-sensitisation training.
The legal dispute unfolded against the backdrop of Podcast and Chill's brief stint on DStv, which the podcast joined in 2025 as part of a push to bring popular digital content to mainstream television. The show was removed from the platform in under a month. DStv's digital distribution partner, Leading Edge Growth, attributed the exit to adjustments in its content roster and said the first season was nearing its final episodes.
MacG had not yet responded to requests for comment on the Tsontso controversy at the time Dlamini's statement was published.

Tebogo Thobejane fires back at Sol Phenduka
In another report, Briefly News previously reported that former Muvhango actress Tebogo Thobejane responded publicly, referencing her own experience of being mocked by the Podcast and Chill crew.
This is not the first time Thobejane has taken aim at the platform. In October 2024, she fired back at MacG after he ridiculed her for attracting only five views on her new YouTube channel.
