South African musician The Kiffness has thrown his support behind Ed Sheeran as the British singer navigates one of the most turbulent chapters of his career. Real name David Scott, The Kiffness posted the message of support on social media on 19 September 2026, telling Sheeran to stand firm against the wave of criticism surrounding his Loop tour.

"Please don't let them win. You're an incredible talent and a genuinely good person," he wrote, adding, "You have a massive amount of support behind you. Don't let the noise bring you down!"

Why The Kiffness spoke out

The Kiffness drew a direct line between Sheeran's current ordeal and his own encounters with pro-Palestinian activists, acknowledging that the situations were not identical. He noted that his own backlash was partly anticipated given his openly Christian views, whereas Sheeran had chosen to stay out of the political debate altogether, yet still found himself at the centre of it.

The Loop tour became engulfed in controversy after rapper Macklemore was dropped from remaining US tour dates following pro-Palestinian comments he made during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Sheeran maintained that the decision was taken by the tour promoter and venues, not by him personally.

The fallout continued to grow when several artists linked to the tour, including Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Irish folk band Beoga, withdrew in solidarity with Macklemore.

Ed Sheeran breaks his silence in Philadelphia

Sheeran returned to the stage at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, 19 September, for his first performance since the controversy broke. He addressed the situation directly with an emotional speech, saying he had made mistakes and felt genuine regret about how events had played out. He described the 7 October attack on Israel as horrific and called the situation in Gaza unjustifiable and disproportionate, while emphasising his desire for his shows to remain spaces of love and unity.

In a separate Facebook post, The Kiffness praised Sheeran's decision to show up.

"People don't realise how terrifying it is to walk out on that stage when you're facing thousands of death threats, losing friends and family, and a wall of media and activist pressure trying to silence you. Standing your ground and showing up for the fans takes true bravery."
