@AnathiNeke voiced her disappointment over how the character was handled: "I thought he was going to be a successful doctor, not Shwabi's lapdog."

@SoftParent shared a similar sentiment: "They killed a good character.. it had so much potential."

@Nondzaba90 did not hold back either: "Hayi shame his storyline was a mess."

Others felt the problems ran deeper than just one exit. @bongiwe_lisa wrote: "This story I left it when Mankwayane lost all her inheritance. Ayy, it didn't make sense after that; they can just leave it; they lost the plot of a love story."

@LindaKubeka_ traced the show's decline even further back: "It didn't make sense after they killed uSfiso. Even the way he died nje."

Not everyone was mourning the character's departure. @_FentseM had little sympathy, writing: "ey he can fokof, the evil he's done is enough."

@PoloMohlomi summed up the general mood with a single observation: "A very confusing storyline."

@Givypunks echoed the wider sentiment, simply saying: "Asbonge, the show just doesn't make sense anymore."

The outpouring of reactions suggests that Mbatha's exit has become a flashpoint for viewers who feel the show's second season has strayed significantly from what made it compelling in the first place.

Zethu compared to Brooke Logan

In a previous report from Briefly News, Homecoming actress Six Nyamane's character, Dr Zethu Hlongwane, has become a hot topic online after fans compared her to The Bold and the Beautiful's Brooke Logan.

The comparison comes after Zethu chose not to marry her high school sweetheart, Dr Shobane, having previously ended her relationship with Sifiso, whose death at the end of Season 1 left many viewers heartbroken.
