South African actress Ama Qamata is heading to the West End for the very first time, having been cast in a brand-new theatrical production that promises to be one of London's most talked-about shows of late 2026. The announcement has set the entertainment world buzzing, with fans proud to see yet another homegrown talent take on the global stage.

Ama Qamata joins star-studded cast

Playwright Ryan Calais Cameron's latest work, The Afronauts, is a sweeping epic inspired by the real-life Zambian space programme of the 1960s. The story follows a determined school teacher who assembles a group of young dreamers and trains them to become space explorers, weaving together themes of ambition, African identity, and the limitless power of imagination.

Qamata joins a remarkably high-profile ensemble. Leading the production is Lucian Msamati, the Zimbabwean-British actor widely recognised for his role in Game of Thrones.
