Nomzamo Mbatha could barely contain her excitement on 1 October 2026 when she took to X to share a landmark announcement for South African television. The actress, who stars in the acclaimed Zulu historical drama Shaka iLembe, reposted a clip from international distribution giant StudioCanal revealing that the show is heading to global audiences.
StudioCanal described Shaka iLembe as "South Africa's most decorated and most watched drama series of all time," confirming that Season 3 will make its international debut while Seasons 1 and 2 are set to reach broadcasters worldwide. Mbatha kept her caption brief but deeply felt, writing:
"🙏🏿 A dream come true # ShakaLembe."
Shaka iLembe goes to MIPCOM 2026
The timing of the announcement is no coincidence. Shaka iLembe Season 3 is being presented to international buyers at MIPCOM 2026, one of the world's biggest television markets, where broadcasters and distributors scout content for global acquisition. StudioCanal's involvement signals serious international ambition for the production, which has already made history on South African screens.
