Shocking allegations have surfaced against Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry after her ex-husband, French actor Olivier Martinez, filed a petition for a restraining order against her on 2 October 2026. According to entertainment outlet E! News, Martinez alleged that Berry physically abused their 12-year-old son Maceo, claiming she choked the boy.

The couple were married in 2013 and finalised their divorce in 2016. Berry also has a daughter, from her previous relationship with model Gabriel Aubry.

Martinez's allegations against Berry

The restraining order petition, filed by Martinez, centres on the accusation that Berry was physically abusive towards their son. No further details about the specific incident have been made public at this stage, and the matter is now before the courts.

The news sent social media into a frenzy, with fans and onlookers split sharply down the middle. Some expressed disbelief at the claims, while others argued that abuse allegations should be taken seriously regardless of the accused's gender or celebrity status.

Social media reacts to the claims

The allegations attracted fierce debate in the comment section of E! News' Instagram post, with reactions ranging from sceptical to outright dismissive.

"I don't believe him…"

@polipola raised a pointed question, saying:

"Why are we asking if he has proof? Would we ask a woman if she has proof if a man choked their son?... Why are we assuming he's lying? Because a woman can also be abusive to her children."

@lettie_coco offered a more cautious take:

"Don't forget the well dries up for him when she gets married, and the streets say he used to attack her, so it's very hard for me to believe him at all. Better to reserve an opinion when actual evidence (should there actually be any and not an inflation of the truth) is presented." She added: "Because right now it's giving K Fed."

"How about we don't discuss this until there is an outcome in the Courts."

The restraining order petition has not yet been ruled on, and Berry has not publicly responded to the allegations. The matter remains before the courts.
