A resurfaced clip of the late ProKid delivering a raw, unscripted freestyle has South African hip hop fans reminiscing hard. Sizwe Dhlomo shared the video on X on Thursday, 15 October, with a caption that said everything.

The footage, originally shared by @KatlehoMK and captioned "Andile asks ProKid to freestyle why he left Gallo Records to sign with TS Records," shows presenter Andile Ncube conducting a casual street-style interview against a brick wall, handheld microphone in hand. Andile sets the challenge plainly: ProKid must explain the label move, address any beef, and talk about the future entirely in rhyme, ending with "TS for life." No studio, no backing track, no preparation.

ProKid steps up without missing a beat. He raps about his album being "heavy," declares himself "a full package," and wraps it up with a sharp reference to leaving Gallo for TS, closing with a passionate "BTS for life." The energy in the group gathered around him is electric, with people reacting audibly as he finishes. Bold red and blue text reading "TS4LIFE" closes out the clip.

ProKid's legacy looms large

Dhlomo's post landed as a pointed commentary on the current state of South African hip hop, specifically the bar for what counts as a freestyle in 2026.
