Fan-favourite 7de Laan couple Oom Oubaas and Hilda recently reunited in kykNet's Afrikaans soapie Suidooster after SABC2 canned the popular soapie in July 2023.

Actress Annelisa Weiland, who joined the cast of Suidooster in 2019 as Kate, opens up about starring opposite Pierre van Pletzen again.

Rooi Rose confirmed on its X account on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, that the legendary couple is back together on Suidooster.

News24 reported on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, that actor Pierre van Pletzen will make his debut on the kykNET soapie, Suidooster, on Thursday, 2 April 2026, as Willie.

Actress Annelisa Weiland, who's been acting on the soapie as Kate, tells the publication that the dynamic between herself and van Pletzen is completely different.

"Pierre's character is nothing like Oubaas, and Kate is different from Hilda," says the actress.

Willie is a retired train driver who's travelled throughout the country and carries a vast number of stories from his travels. On the show, Willie will approach Kate for help to introduce him to a website designer.
