An Eastern Cape content creator has shared a video that shows how one man's unusual method saved him from a charging cow.
Facebook user @Isintu, who posts lots of South African content, especially about people in rural areas, shared the dramatic clip that has everyone talking about animal safety.
The video shows a group of men standing near a cattle enclosure when a cow starts walking towards them. Things quickly turn dangerous when the animal begins charging at one of the men standing in front.
The first gentleman manages to move out of the way quickly, but there's another man standing further behind who sees the cow still charging forward. Instead of running, he does something unexpected - he lies down flat on the ground.

The cow doesn't know how to react to this. It stops charging and slows down, then eventually makes a U-turn and walks slowly back towards the enclosure entrance.
But the drama isn't over yet. When the cow reaches the entrance, it sees another gentleman standing beside it and decides to charge him, too. You can hear people screaming everywhere, trying to get out of the way. The person recording tries to tell people how to deal with the charging cow, but most of the men look quite scared of the animal.
The only person who showed a smart method of avoiding the charging cow was the man who played dead by lying down on the floor. The cow was unsure how to react and decided to slow down and turn around.

How to deal with charging cattle
According to experts at WikiHow, bulls and cows are very dangerous animals that can turn and charge faster than you can react. They can easily outrun you, and if they hit you, they will keep attacking until you stop moving.
The best way to avoid an attack is to stay near fences that you can climb over quickly. If you must walk through an area with cattle, walk calmly and don't make eye contact, as they might see this as a threat.

If a cow or bull charges at you, try to dodge to the side and then run past the animal so it has to turn around completely. If you get cornered, yell loudly and hit the animal's face with any weapon you have.
Interestingly, the expert advice does mention playing dead as a last resort if you can't escape, which is exactly what the man in the video did.
