Nasirah Exume, an American woman living an "untraditional life" with her husband and children, shared what she loved about being in South Africa.

On 31 July, 2025, Nasirah stated on her TikTok account that she and her family had been in the country for three days and wanted to share what she had learnt.

She told the online community:

"South Africa is not a place. It's not a vacation. It's a feeling, it's an embrace, it's a vibe. It's so many things. And this is just one part of Africa."

The mother of three, who seems to be in the Gauteng area, revealed that she and her family were not treated as if they didn't belong in the country.

"Africa is nothing like I thought it was going to be, and it's definitely not what America portrays it to be. I'm moving here very soon."

Listing what she had learnt, Nasirah noted that driving in South Africa was a bizarre experience, the food was much better than the food back home, and emphasised that the people were welcoming.

Nasirah added in her video:

"Before we came, there were a lot of people talking about how dangerous it is and how we should be careful. South Africa is just like the United States — don't go looking for danger, and danger won't find you."

She also admired the shopping malls, giving a shout-out to Sandton City Mall and pointing out the number of floors it had.
