Content creator Ntathu Zungu took her quirky reporting style to a whole new level on 24 August 2026, when she pointed a 702 mic pop filter at a pig to discuss KwaZulu-Natal’s growing water crisis.
The video, shared on her Instagram, went viral almost instantly. Farmers in Durban and the broader eThekwini Municipality are grappling with crumbling municipal infrastructure, severe river pollution, and increasingly unpredictable weather. Smallholders, emerging black farmers, and large commercial operations across KwaZulu-Natal are all feeling the pressure. Zungu decided the pig was the perfect spokesperson.
How the 702 mic pop filter started it all
The saga began when Zungu revealed she had found a 702 mic pop filter and had no intention of giving it back. She declined to say where she came across it, and instead challenged the radio station to figure it out themselves.

Her unofficial status as 702’s roving social media reporter was later confirmed during an appearance on air with presenter Clement Manyathela. She admitted she had even been warned against using the filter since it belongs to a broadcasting company, but pressed on regardless.
The pig interview was the latest in what has quickly become a fan favourite series, with Zungu using the filter to conduct absurd but oddly insightful encounters with the world around her.
