Chrissy the baboon is a retired Hollywood animal actress who found a second home at Animal Tracks, an immersive animal sanctuary where she has lived for decades under the care of director and animal behaviour expert Stacy.
A video posted on 25 August 2026 showed Chrissy wrapping her arms around Stacy in what viewers described as a thankful hug, moments after being handed a banana. The clip spread quickly online, drawing an outpouring of emotion from people moved by the pair's visible connection.
Chrissy's journey to the sanctuary was not a gentle one. She was bought by a movie company and used in the entertainment industry before eventually being retired to Animal Tracks. According to the sanctuary, she should have grown up in the wild with her own family, and her life in captivity is a reality they do not take lightly.
From Hollywood animal to queen of the sanctuary
What Stacy noticed early on set Chrissy apart. Despite everything she had been through, Chrissy displayed a powerful maternal instinct. Over the years, she became an adoptive mother figure to many of the other monkeys at Animal Tracks, earning her the nickname "Queen" and "Mother Nature" among the staff.
