A Takealot delivery driver got the surprise of his life. South African content creator BI Phakathi pulled up beside him near an Ocean Basket restaurant on 7 September 2026.

The video, filmed in a parking lot in the creator's signature selfie-and-handheld style, showed BI Phakathi walking up to the uniformed rider, helmet still on and delivery box strapped to his motorbike, and handing him a freshly bought pizza.

But the food was only part of it. BI Phakathi then pulled out cash and gave the man R2,000, followed by an extra R1,000, bringing the total surprise to R3,000. The driver, who introduced himself as Pagati and said he was originally from Uganda, was visibly overwhelmed. "I'm frozen. I don't know what to say," he told the creator on camera.

Philanthropist BI Phakathi told him he had been watching his work and wanted to show appreciation. "I've been seeing you doing this for the people. I appreciate the work you're doing," he said.
