A kidnapped Mahikeng woman was found alive on 17 September 2026, bringing relief to a community that had feared the worst. Prudence Molalepula Mooketsi, who was allegedly abducted in the early hours of that morning in Lomanyaneng, was located in Ditakong village at around 19:30 that evening.

North West SAPS spokesperson Col. Adele Myburg confirmed the news at an outdoor press briefing. Col. Myburg said:
"I can confirm that she is alive, severely traumatised, but she was found."
She added that Mooketsi appeared to have been dropped off at the village by those who took her, and that an ambulance was called to the scene to provide a medical evaluation before she returned home.
