GAUTENG — A private security patrol vehicle stumbled upon the body of an 11th woman near Rhokana Road in Springs on Sunday, 27 September 2026, deepening what has become one of South Africa's most alarming active investigations.

According to media reports, the semi-naked victim was found in an open field adjacent to a railway line. Security personnel who made the discovery immediately contacted police, triggering a large-scale response.

Multi-disciplinary teams deployed to Springs

Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed that several specialised units were sent to process the scene, including Crime Scene Management, Forensic Services, Detectives, Crime Intelligence, and Investigative Psychology Services. The latest find comes just days after law enforcement arrested a suspect in connection with the 10th victim, whose body was recovered a day earlier. Investigators are now working to establish whether forensic and physical evidence links the cases.

Bodies recovered across Ekurhuleni

Since mid-July 2026, female bodies have been found in public spaces, roadsides, and open fields across multiple parts of the Ekurhuleni municipality, including Kempton Park, Dawn Park, KwaThema, Thembisa, and Springs. Many victims were discovered partially clothed, and several showed signs of bruising or stab wounds.

Not all deaths have been attributed to a single perpetrator. In one instance, the murder of the ninth victim, Jabulile Ntimba, was linked by police to a localised dispute rather than the wider series of killings. Three suspects — one man and two women — were arrested in connection with that case in Dawn Park. A separate arrest was made after a suspect in another killing fled to Limpopo.
