Suspect Arrested in Limpopo After 10th Female Body Found at Tembisa Cemetery

GAUTENG — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing of a woman whose body was found at Mooifontein Cemetery in the Vusimusi Section of Tembisa on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
The victim, identified as Ms Ntombifuthu Nxumalo, was discovered unclothed and had sustained severe head injuries. Stones recovered at the scene suggested she may have been stoned to death. Investigators noted no visible stab wounds on her body.
Last seen leaving a Tembisa tavern
Early inquiries established that Nxumalo had been drinking at a nearby tavern alongside a female acquaintance before departing with an unidentified man. Residents living close to the cemetery later told investigators that they had heard a woman crying out and pleading for her life at approximately 23:00 that night.

Following up on those accounts, detectives traced a suspect to an address in Tembisa, only to determine that he had since fled to Limpopo.
Multi-provincial team closes in
A joint operational team made up of Crime Intelligence Ekurhuleni District, Tembisa South Detectives, and the Head Office Investigations Psychology Services (IPS) travelled to Mohlabaneng Village in Limpopo. The unit enlisted support from SAPS Bolobedu upon arrival and located the suspect asleep in his room, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner praised the multidisciplinary team for the speed and quality of investigative work that made the arrest possible.
Suspect arrested for women's murder in Kempton Park
In similar news, SAPS confirmed on 15 September 2026 that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of a 37-year-old woman whose body was found in Ekurhuleni. The arrested individual is allegedly the victim's boyfriend, who was taken into custody two days after her body was discovered. The police said they assembled a team of specialised investigators shortly after signs of a potential pattern emerged. The team includes provincial crime intelligence and Ekurhuleni crime intelligence units.

Previously, Briefly News reported that two suspects appeared before the Boksburg Magistrate's Court in connection with the murder of Jabulile Ntimba, identified as the ninth victim in a series of women's killings in Ekurhuleni. Fortunate Masilela and Tsakane Nester Msithini face charges of premeditated murder under gender-based violence legislation, as well as defeating or obstructing the course of justice. The case was postponed to 1 October 2026, with both accused remanded in custody.
