Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo's public profile was never just about money and contracts. Digital Creator Mukuli looked at the two relationships that defined the chapters of his personal life in a post on her Facebook page on 01 October 2026. Both attracted significant attention.

Chivayo and Sonja Madzikanda were together for several years, producing two children. A customary marriage ceremony took place in 2017, with reports at the time indicating that lobola had been paid. The relationship later collapsed. Chivayo maintained in court that he had formally ended the customary union in 2024 through the giving and acceptance of a traditional divorce token known as gupuro.

What happened in the court battle over Sonja

Sonja pursued legal claims that turned into one of the most talked-about court disputes in Zimbabwe in 2026. She sought a settlement reportedly including US$25 million, US$40,000 in monthly maintenance, luxury vehicles and properties. A separate dispute over access to their children also played out in the courts.

In April 2026, the High Court approved a consent arrangement requiring Chivayo to provide a US$5 million package for the children, alongside a structured parental access agreement. The broader property questions were set aside for later proceedings.

In June 2026, Sonja stated that the High Court had ruled the two had never been legally married, though the written judgment had not yet been made public at that point.

Meeting Lucy 'Lulu' Muteke

While the legal proceedings with Sonja continued, Chivayo had already begun a new chapter. He married Lucy "Lulu" Muteke in 2025. Lulu was publicly known as a model, personal shopper and social media personality. Their wedding drew wide attention, consistent with Chivayo's lavish public image.
