Shree Property Holdings, the KwaZulu-Natal-based property group, announced a R2 billion investment commitment in October 2026 to grow and modernise industrial and logistics infrastructure across the province.
The three-year programme, led by CEO Pran Shree, targets two key corridors. The South Durban Basin will receive the bulk of the investment, with significant acquisitions and redevelopment of legacy industrial sites positioned close to major transport routes and the Port of Durban. A further R400 million has been earmarked for a new warehousing facility at Woodmead Industrial Park in Shakaskraal along the North Coast, responding to growing commercial and residential demand in the area.
South Coast road redevelopment
Two major sites sit at the centre of the programme. The former Plascon and Tiger Brands properties at 1236 and 1400 South Coast Road will be transformed into modern, high-specification distribution hubs for the next generation of logistics and warehousing businesses. Together, the two sites are expected to add roughly 80,000 square metres of AAA-grade industrial space. The overall investment into the South Coast Road redevelopment exceeds R1.6 billion.

KZN residents react to the announcement
The news on the Facebook page drew widespread praise, though some also raised questions about broader economic priorities:
@Anthon van Weers said:
"To Pran and the team at Shree Prop. You guys are incredible and have built a small Durban business into a world-class multi-billion rand international operation. So proud of you guys!!"
@Mthunzi Sibiya wrote:
"Congratulations Shree Prop, one of the most fascinating and inspiring companies to come out of Durban. I love this company. Guys, as a young African, how does one get an opportunity to enter the warehousing and logistics industry?"
@Teddy Govender shared:
"Congratulations, Mr Shree, for the smart work. Well done to Mrs Shree and the boys for being the support. It started at 333 Sydney Road; now it's international, all by God's Grace."
@Sbongiseni Meyiwa raised a different view:
"Why are we building more warehouses instead of investing in agriculture and building more farms? A warehouse stores goods, but a farm produces food, creates opportunities, and feeds a nation."
