A Johannesburg domestic worker has touched hearts across South Africa after sharing an emotional video where she supports a young woman fighting stage 4 cancer.

Content creator @Laiza The Mop Driver, originally from Zimbabwe but works for a family in Johannesburg, posted the heartbreaking video on the 11 of August with the caption:

"My family, I'm here pleading with you, please let's help my young sister. Every cent counts."

The domestic worker explained that her friend Prenisha shared her cancer journey in the video, revealing how she has been battling the disease for over a year. What started as bladder cancer in June 2024 has now spread to her spine and brain, causing seizures and fits that sometimes leave her unable to walk or stand. Her kidneys have also been severely affected, requiring regular dialysis treatment.

Prenisha explained that the aggressive cancer treatment has also affected her heart, and her body has stopped producing white blood cells properly.

"The doctors are running out of things to do; it's basically up to my body and how it responds to the treatment," she said, revealing she's now at stage 4 with only one last round of chemotherapy available.

Despite her illness, Prenisha continues working as an online teacher whenever she can manage, but she depends on her brother's family, her boyfriend, and his mother for support. The mounting medical bills have left her over R150,000 in debt, covering dialysis, chemotherapy, scans, and monitoring costs that her medical aid doesn't fully cover.

Laiza was visibly emotional as she listened to Prenisha's story and made a touching promise:

"I'm going to cut my hair for you, I'm gonna go bald for you." She was amazed that despite feeling so unwell, Prenisha still found the strength to cook a meal for her.
