JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress in Gauteng has endorsed Cyril Ramaphosa to run for a second term as the party's leader. Paul Mashatile was selected for the deputy president role. The Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) made the decision on Friday, 16 September.
Times Live reported that Cyril Ramaphosa has currently been supported by four other provinces, the ANC in the Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the North West. Paul Mashatile will be contending with Ronald Lamola for the deputy president's seat in the ANC.
Ronald Lamola, who is being supported by the branch in Mpumalanga, has advocated for the ANC's top 6 positions to be occupied by a range of generations to better compete with the Democratic Alliance and Economic Freedom Fighters, who have youthful leaders, according to The Citizen

Former president Jacob Zuma offers support to Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma’s ANC presidency bid
Briefly News also reported that former President Jacob Zuma ordered members of the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee (NEC) to rally behind Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma’s bid to lead the ruling party.
The members gathered at Zuma’s Nkandla homestead on Saturday, 10 September. The former president allegedly told a faction of the party led by suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule that Dlamini-Zuma was his choice for the presidency.
