“This award demonstrates our efforts as well as intentions to empower women in our country with the help of the tool we possess, namely, one of the biggest digital news platforms in South Africa and its readers,” reacted Briefly News’s Editor-in-Chief, Rianette Cluley, to the victory in the category.

“We believe the best way to influence change is to strengthen and grow the current conversation, then couple that with deliberate actions,” according to Colleen Larsen of Business Engage.

The sponsors of the event, excluding Business Engage, were Accenture, AECI, JSE, Vodacom, DP World, RMB, and Assupol.

“To drive change, organizations need to refocus their environments to support the development of women alongside their male counterparts – as equals,” said Khethiwe Nkuna, CSI and responsible business lead for Accenture in Africa.

In its promotion of women empowerment, Briefly News plans to take part in the next 12th Gender Mainstreaming Awards, which have already started to receive applications.

Earlier in August this year, Briefly News won an African Excellence Award from MEA Markets, which recognizes the most outstanding representatives in every industry on the African continent.
