What did McKenzie say?
The Patriotic Alliance leader vehemently stated that he does not know Molefe. He said that the man in the picture is not Molefe. McKenzie identified the person in the photo as Dan Bhuga. He clapped back at ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba, who also shared the picture. The Minister urged Mashaba not to fall for the "media nonsense." He called this a desperate plot and said that this is misinformation.
The minister accused the Democratic Alliance (DA) of being behind the sharing of the photos. He said that the DA is sharing fake pictures of him with a murder suspect. He stated that his supporters know that they will not lie to them.

Kenny Kunene denies knowing Molefe
Katiso Molefe, a Sandton businessman, is accused of allegedly ordering a hit on DJ Sumbody, real name Oupa John Sefoka. On Monday, 21 July 2025, police found Kenny Kunene at the residence of Molefe. The police conducted a raid to arrest Molefe, who was on bail.
Kunene admitted to being at Molefe's house. He said that he was accompanying a journalist to do an exclusive interview for his newspaper. Kunene stated that he does not know Molefe personally and was simply there at the wrong place and time.
During an interview with eNCA, the outspoken Patriotic Alliance deputy-president claims he met Molefe once before being caught at his upmarket Sandton home this week.
“I have never been there before, I have no relationship with Mr Molefe. I don’t have his cell number. The police established that," Kunene said.
Kenny Kunene has since been placed on a 30-day leave of absence by the Patriotic Alliance to investigate the allegations made against him.
