HUMANSDORP, EASTERN CAPE — A violent altercation between a group of learners at Humansdorp Secondary School in Humansdorp, Eastern Cape, turned deadly. One of the learners was stabbed to death on 23 September 2025.

The South African Police Service told Briefly News that a Grade 12 learner was stabbed to death in the incident. The incident happened at 8:15 am, shortly before school began. A violent interaction broke out involving a group of learners.

The victim, an 18-year-old, died on the scene, and the five learners involved in the stabbing fled the scene.

" The five suspects are still at large, and their arrest is imminent," the police said.

According to JBay Online, a learner was stabbed at the same school earlier this month. Fortunately, the learner was rushed to a medical facility and was treated for their wounds.

Learners stabbed in 2025

Learners from Lesedi Secondary School in Pretoria East received counselling after a Grade 11 learner was stabbed to death on the school premises on 17 June 2025. The suspect who stabbed the victim was allegedly not at school and waited for the victim. He allegedly stabbed him after school hours and fled the scene.

A Grade 9 learner was stabbed at the Enkwenkwezini Senior Secondary School in Alice, Eastern Cape, on 21 August 2025. Two learners reportedly assaulted and stabbed the victim. He was rushed to the nearest medical facility. The two suspects were arrested.

Mitchell's Plain learner stabs pupils
