GAUTENG - A ransom demand may hold the key to finding two-year-old Milano Jadon Tlali, who has been missing from his Johannesburg South home for more than six weeks.

Milano was last seen on 30 June 2026, while he was playing outside his family's apartment complex in Moffatview. He was last seen wearing a navy-blue jacket and green Springbok trousers. Despite extensive searches by police, search-and-rescue teams, and community volunteers, there has been no trace of the little boy.

Ransom voice note raises new questions

With the search ongoing, a community member has revealed that a ransom demand was made for the child’s safe return.

The community member, who spoke exclusively to eNCA, explained that she received a 22-second voice note just two days after the toddler went missing.

The message reportedly included a demand for money in exchange for the child's safe return. The woman explained that her number had been circulating on flyers distributed during the early days of the search, leading to a wave of calls and messages from strangers, including the alleged ransom demand.

Requests for proof that Milano is alive and in the sender's custody went unanswered. No video or supporting evidence was ever provided, leaving community members uncertain whether the claim is genuine or opportunistic.
