KWAZULU-NATAL — Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to two separate calls reporting a dumped human body in Mount Vernon, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday, 31 August 2026, only to find a sleeping woman.
Members of the public contacted RUSA after spotting a figure wrapped in a white cloth on the side of an unpaved road. Convinced they had discovered an abandoned corpse, both callers requested urgent assistance.
Reaction Officers and RUSA paramedics were sent to the location to investigate. Upon arrival, they found a person lying on an embankment, completely covered in a white cloth. As first responders began their examination, the individual became responsive. The 26-year-old woman told officers she was sleeping. She declined to share further details, pulled the cloth back over herself, and returned to sleep.
