Dricus du Plessis faced a load of criticism from South Africans following his unanimous decision defeat to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 in Chicago, United States, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The South African MMA star was dominated across all five rounds of the bout with the Russian-born showing off his relentless wrestling and control.

DDP also showed resilience and good approach but he had no answers to the new champion's grappling style all through the bout.

The fight was DDP's second title defence this year, after defending his belt successfully against Sean Strickland back in February in Australia.
