Oscar Pistorius, the former Paralympic star convicted of killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, has once again made headlines following a series of personal developments.

Despite these circumstances, Pistorius continues to live a financially comfortable life, supported by both his personal earnings and the vast wealth of his family.

His net worth is estimated at $5 million (approximately R90 million), bolstered by lucrative endorsement deals during his athletic career and the Pistorius family's vast business empire, which owns over 100 active companies spanning property development, mining, tourism, transportation, and leisure ventures

What has his life post-parole been like?

Since his release last year, Pistorius has been living at his uncle Arnold Pistorius’s Waterkloof mansion in Pretoria.

The estate, reportedly worth over R20 million, features multiple verandas, landscaped gardens, a swimming pool, and round-the-clock security, ensuring both privacy and comfort.

Oscar has kept a relatively low profile as required by his parole conditions, which include limited travel, home confinement, prohibition from alcohol and dangerous weapons, therapy for anger management and gender-based violence, and strict bans on contacting Reeva Steenkamp’s family or engaging with media and social media.

Despite these restrictions, Pistorius has returned to sporting life. In June, he competed in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Durban, placing third in the “physically challenged” category.

The 113 km race involved a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run. Photographs of the event show him blending into the crowd, wearing prosthetic legs, polarized sunglasses, and dark sporting attire.

Family wealth and support

Pistorius’s ability to maintain stability post-prison is heavily influenced by his family. His paternal grandfather, Hendrik Pistorius, established a business empire that has been expanded by his sons: Arnold, Henke, Theo, and Leo.

Arnold develops and manages commercial properties and owns shopping malls and tourist resorts. Henke, Oscar’s father, is involved in property development and mining.

Theo and Leo run transport companies, private game reserves, ski lodges in Austria, and air charter services. Together, the family controls a vast portfolio of businesses in South Africa, Mozambique, and Austria, ensuring Oscar can live comfortably despite his legal history.

Adding to the public fascination with Pistorius, he has been linked to 33-year-old Pretoria-based business management consultant Rita Greyling.

Greyling, who reportedly resembles the late Reeva Steenkamp, has reportedly made her Instagram private and locked her Facebook account amid media attention. Her connection to Pistorius remains speculative but has sparked discussion across social media.
