What is the Wine2Whales race about?

The Wines2Whales is one of South Africa’s most scenic and popular stage races, stretching from the vineyards of Somerset West through rugged trails and mountain passes, before finishing along the coast near Hermanus.

The event is known for attracting both professional riders and enthusiastic amateurs, offering a unique mix of physical challenge and breathtaking landscapes.

This year’s edition will run from 31 October to 9 November 2025, with different stages catering to riders of varying experience levels.

For Rachel, it marks not only an athletic test but also a chance to embrace a new adventure away from the spotlight that once followed her as the wife of a national rugby star.

By sharing her preparations, she has invited fans to follow her journey as she swaps the sidelines of rugby stadiums for the rugged trails of the Western Cape.
