Remembering Emmanuel 'Scara' Ngobese 10 years after his death

On this day, exactly a decade ago, Emmanuel Ngobese - who was known as 'Scara' by his fans, passed away in Johannesburg.
Ngobese was born in Katlehong, Gauteng, and he started his soccer career in the early 2000s. From 2004 to 2008, Ngobese was part of the Kaizer Chiefs' development team.
Afterwards, he went on to play for some major clubs, including the Kaizer Chiefs, United FC and Moroka Swallows.
However, his career and life were cut tragically short when Ngobese died on 11 May, 2010. Briefly.co.za gathered he died from tuberculosis (TB) - which he had been battling since 2008.

On the anniversary of his death, former teammate Junior Khanye opened up to KickOff.com about the beloved midfielder.
Khanye called Ngobese an "arrogant" but "confident" player who was loved by many people.
"Off the field he didn't spend most of his time socialising with soccer players and he was only close to a few soccer people including 'Grootman' Thabo Mooki and Papi Zothwane," Khanye said.
He added that Ngobese was liked by many people, not only Amakhosi fans. Khanye was quoted saying:
"He was an honest person. If he didn't like something, he would say it. He loved his mother, his family and girlfriend Busi. He believed in God and prayed before every match. He had a big heart and hated to lose a match."
Taking to social media, South Africans remembered Ngobese - who they also knew as "black Jesus."
Fanyane Lebogang Shoai, who goes by the Twitter handle @FanyaneShoai, commented:
"We'll always love Scara. He's still the best and forever he will be."
Twitter user, @AbBhele, said:
"Ama legends madoda. Rip Scara."
Another tweep, @IamTista1, added:
"Eish legend this one."
