Media reports in North Africa suggest that Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has set his sights on landing Mamelodi Sundowns' top in-form striker Peter Shalulile.

The former Masandawana boss is hoping to bolster his ranks, especially upfront, and has been linked with the Namibian international.

Shalulile joined the reigning Premier Soccer League champions at the beginning of the current season but his best form in front of goal has attracted interest from as far as Egypt.

The 27-year-old was signed by the former Bafana Bafana manager whilst at Chloorkop and now wants the former Highlands Park star in Cairo.

With Sundowns yet to taste defeat in the PSL and fresh from a 2-0 loss at home in the CAF Champions League on Friday afternoon, Shalulile has been one of the club’s best performers so far.

As per KickOff.com, an Egyptian website known as KingFut, reports that Shalulile is earmarked to end Ahly’s struggles upfront but it remains to be seen if the Nedbank Cup champions will let go of their talisman.

It is reported that the Kagiso-born mentor has been finding it very hard to solve their goalscoring problems despite having the likes of Marwan Mohsen, Walter Bwalya, Salah Mohsen, and Mohamed Sherif – the quartet has three goals between them this term

Looking at Shalulile, the same cannot be said for him as he has 14 strikes out of 25 appearances coupled with six assists across all competitions this season.

Briefly News previously reported that the Red Devils were looking to capture midfielder Gaston Sirino’s signature but they failed to sign him.

Sirino was set to join Ahly, reuniting with Sundowns former coach but the only obstacle was the Tshwane giants wanted more money, they were hoping to get R60 million for the transfer of Sirino.

The soccer star from Uruguay is a fan favourite in South Africa and Ahly realised his potential, with a foreign slot open in the team for him.
