Nonetheless, taking a look at Messi's historic career, Argentine assistant coach, Pablo Aimar, has touched on what he believes remains the forward’s motivation to continue excelling despite his age and numerous achievements.

Aimar speaks on Lionel Messi's motivation

In a recent interview shared on social media by Football Tweets, the 44-year-old compared Lionel Messi's motivation and drive to that of iconic basketball player, Michael Jordan.

The former Valencia star explained that Messi's enduring strength seems to be driven by the desire to impress the fans who may yet never witness his greatness again.

“Michael Jordan once said he played every game as if there was someone in the crowd who would see him just that once. It seems to me that Leo plays with the thought of the person who might never see him again.”
