Bruno Fernandes Shares Details of His Chat With Erik ten Hag After Man United Sacking

Manchester United's first Premier League game after Erik ten Hag's departure ended in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford. Ruud van Nistelrooy was in the dugout as a caretaker as they waited for new boss Ruben Amorim to arrive.

After the game, club captain Bruno Fernandes spoke about his conversation with Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman was dismissed.

Fernandes scored in the second half from the penalty spot after Robert Sanchez fouled Rasmus Hojlund.

The lead didn't last long as Moises Caicedo volleyed home the equaliser, denying the interim manager his first league victory.

Fernandes message to Erik ten Hag

In his post-match interview, Fernandes sent an apology to Ten Hag.

‘I spoke to the manager [Ten Hag] and apologised to him if there was something I could have done better for him. I was disappointed he has gone and I tried to help him," he said via Metro Sports.

The Portugal international said he was partly responsible for the team's poor performances.

"I wasn’t scoring goals, we are not scoring goals and I feel responsible because I normally score a lot of goals but I always gave 100% to help. The main thing is that he is aware of that," he added.

The former Ajax boss was in his third season at Old Trafford. He led the club to two trophies, but Premier League performances were poor.

Ruben Amorim will replace him after the club confirms his appointment on Friday, l November.

Guardiola welcomes Amorim

Briefly News also reported that Pep Guardiola praised Ruben Amorim following his appointment, calling him a top-level coach.

Guardiola's Manchester City have faced Amorim's team a few times and will meet again on Tuesday in the Champions League.
