Cole Palmer: Chelsea Boss Delivers Injury Update After Freak Martinez Tackle
- Cole Palmer left Old Trafford limping after a nasty challenge from Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez late in the game
- Martinez avoided a red card with the VAR agreeing with the referee that it was a reckless challenge and not serious foul play
- Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca issued an update on his star forward ahead of their showdown against Arsenal next weekend
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has delivered a worrying update on his star forward Cole Palmer after their game against Manchester United.
Palmer was left in a heap after a bad challenge from Lisandro Martinez late in the game. Despite the VAR checking the incident, the Argentine defender escaped with only a yellow card.
Palmer was spotted struggling to walk but left the pitch without assistance after applauding the travelling fans.
Martinez's boot brushed his knee after he had pulled off a sublime skill to get away from the former Ajax defender. The video of Palmer limping left Chelsea fans worried, given his impact in the last year.

Chelsea boss provides Cole Palmer's injury update
After the game, Maresca admitted that Martinez should have been sent off. The Italian was also optimistic that Palmer hadn't suffered a serious injury.
"He was in the changing room with ice. We are waiting now. Hopefully, it is nothing," he said as quoted by Football London.
Why Lisandro Martinez wasn't sent off vs Chelsea
The Premier League quickly explained why VAR didn't recommend that Martinez be sent off by referee Rob Jones.
"VAR checked for a potential red card and confirmed the referee’s call of no red card, deeming that it was a reckless challenge and not serious foul play."

Amorim speaks for the first time
Briefly News has also reported that newly appointed Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has addressed the media for the first time since his confirmation.
The Sporting CP boss, who has signed a contract until 2027, steps in to replace Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed earlier this week. At just 39 years old, Amorim faces the challenge of boosting the team's performance in both the Premier League and the Europa League.
