Alejandro Garnacho has penned a moving tribute to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who left Manchester United following the arrival of new coach Ruben Amorim.

The Dutchman was the club's interim coach after Erik ten Hag was fired on October 28.

Garnacho was a regular during Van Nistelrooy's brief spell at the club as caretaker coach.

Garnacho's message to van Nistelrooy

The former Real Madrid star arrived at Old Trafford in the summer as part of Erik ten Hag's backroom staff. However, his stay was short-lived after his boss was dismissed.

He coached four matches, won three and drew one and left an impression on the fans despite a difficult start to the season.

The young winger played all four matches and registered two goals and an assist. In fact, he scored the last goal in van Nistelrooy's era against Leicester on Sunday in the Premier League, per Transfermarkt.

He shared a touching message on Instagram for the club legend.

"It was a short time but it was special. I learned a lot from you and I will keep it to myself for the rest of my career, but what I will remember the most is how you are a person. We will meet again legend," he wrote on his Instagram via Manchester Evening News.

The 48-year-old coach was a Man United player between 2001 and 2006. He won a Premier League title and a Golden Boot. He scored 150 goals in 219 appearances before joining Real Madrid.

In a related report, Briefly News earlier reported that Garnacho refused to celebrate his goal against Leicester City, and captain Bruno Fernandes explained why.
