Chelsea Manager Maresca Names Only Player Guaranteed a Place in Starting XI Against Tottenham
- Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has named one player who will be a guaranteed starter against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday
- The Blues head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a run of four straight victories, including Wednesday's 5-1 win over Southampton
- Maresca's side are second in the Premier League with 28 points after 14 matches, same as London rivals Arsenal
After beating Southampton 5-1 on Wednesday, December 4, Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in a mouth-watering London derby.
The Blues and Spurs have played some incredible matches in the last few seasons, and Sunday's encounter will definitely be a must-watch.
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has hinted at his possible starting lineup by naming one guaranteed starter.
Maresca's guaranteed starter in Tottenham clash
The Blues have won the last four straight matches and will aim to make it five in a row at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. The last time they visited the venue, they won 4-1 in a chaotic clash in which the hosts saw two red cards.
The Italian was asked if goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen will start on Sunday after a great performance at Southampton. He said Robert Sanchez is the only guaranteed starter for Sunday.
"That day we are going to play Sanchez and 10 players. The only one that is sure is Sanchez," he said per Football London.
Before the Southampton game, Sanchez had played every minute in the Premier League and kept three clean sheets, per Transfermarkt.
Maresca has played Sanchez only in the league, while Jorgensen has played in the Conference League and League Cup. Cole Palmer will likely be a guaranteed starter.
Madueke shines for Chelsea
Briefly News earlier reported that Madueke found the net for Chelsea's third goal against Southampton, marking his first goal since October.
However, Enzo Maresca, the former Leicester City manager, issued a stern warning, emphasizing the need for more effort from the winger. Despite scoring five league goals in 13 appearances, Maresca urged the 22-year-old to push his limits.
He pointed to the player’s absence from Chelsea's game against Aston Villa as a moment to reflect and improve.
