It has now emerged that Marcus Rashford was sent home a day after he was dropped from the squad that faced Manchester City.

Rashford has been in the news since Sunday for a whole lot of different reasons. Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim axed him from his squad for his first Manchester derby.

Why Rashford was dropped for Manchester derby

The former Sporting Lisbon man appeared to question Rashford's and Alejandro Garnacho's professionalism in training.

Despite the brutal snub, Rashford joined in the celebration after his teammates pulled an impressive turnaround to beat their rivals 2-1.

Why Rashford was sent home

Mail Online now reports that Rashford was sent back home after reporting for training on Monday, a day after the derby.

The report indicates that the England international was checked by the team doctor and adjudged to be of high fever. He was, therefore, sent back home to recover.

Marcus Rashford admits he could leave Manchester United

On Tuesday, the 27-year-old visited his former primary school, where he met with journalist Henry Winter.

It is here where he admitted that he was considering 'new challenges' by leaving Manchester United.

"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave, it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. If I know that a situation is already bad, I'm not going to make it worse."

It is unknown whether he would be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

Briefly News has also reported that Marcus Rashford has hinted at leaving Manchester United after being dropped for the Manchester derby by head coach Ruben Amorim.
