Lucas Ribeiro has dropped a bombshell on Mamelodi Sundowns amid the ongoing contract issue between the Premier Soccer League giants and the South American forward.

The Brazilian star earlier dragged the Betway Premiership giants to FIFA after the club refused to terminate his contract, as the player wished to join a new club this summer.

The 26-year-old has not trained with Masandawana since his impressive performance at the FIFA Club World Cup, where he won the Goal of the Tournament award.

Ribeiro bids farewell to Sundowns

Ribeiro took to his official page on Instagram to send an emotional farewell message to Mamelodi Sundowns and the fans. He claimed he would've loved to say goodbye in a better way, but the current situation didn't give him the opportunity to.

“From the moment I joined Mamelodi Sundowns, I committed myself fully, on and off the pitch—to earn my place and honour this great club," the Brazilian forward said.
"The last two years have been unforgettable, filled with lessons, emotions, and experiences that shaped me not just as a footballer, but as a person."

The South American forward's performance last season earned him praise from the club's fans, and he was also rewarded with the Premier Soccer League player of the season award and the goal of the season award. He also sent a farewell message to the Brazilian fans and his teammates.

Sundowns sign ex-Kaizer Chiefs star

Briefly News also reported that Sundowns have signed an ex-Kaizer Chiefs forward on a season-long loan from abroad.

The PSL giants have been without Ribeiro since the start of the season, and their new player is expected to fill the void left by the South American.
