Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has publicly urged those opposing FIFA President Gianni Infantino to pursue their grievances through the ballot box rather than political pressure, in a Sky News interview reported by Reuters on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.

Speaking at a time when Infantino faces mounting scrutiny from several football confederations, Motsepe was direct in his message to critics:
"If anyone has got a problem against anybody, whether it's Gianni or anybody else, follow the FIFA process. And if you want to take him out, go for elections. Simple as that."
Motsepe reaffirms Africa's support for Infantino
The CAF president made clear that Africa's 54 member associations remain firmly in Infantino's corner ahead of the March 2027 FIFA presidential election. "He's been loyal to African football. He enjoys the support of Africa," Motsepe said, adding that "the vote will express whether they have confidence in him or not."

His comments emphasise due process and institutional governance, signalling that CAF has no intention of joining any effort to remove Infantino outside the formal electoral framework.
