The Boks are missing several first-team players due to injuries, but Erasmus was still able to name a strong squad to face the Pumas on Saturday, 27 September 2025.
Springboks won their last match against the All Blacks of New Zealand and hope to defeat Argentina in their next two games as they are working on retaining the Rugby Championship title.
Willie Le Roux called up by Erasmus
The Springboks released an official statement on their website to confirm that Willie le Roux has been called up to train with the Springboks ahead of the Argentina clash.
According to a Springboks statement, fullback Willie le Roux will link up with the national squad in Durban on Sunday and remain in camp until Wednesday as they fine-tune preparations for Saturday’s penultimate Castle Lager Rugby Championship clash against Argentina at Hollywoodbets Kings Park.
Head coach Rassie Erasmus has already named a 33-man squad for the final two fixtures against the Pumas, with the second encounter scheduled for 4 October at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium. However, with training intensity ramping up this week, Erasmus has brought in Le Roux to provide additional support and experience in the build-up.
Erasmus explained that Le Roux remains part of the Springboks’ extended squad and that bringing him in early would raise the standard of training. He stressed that the team aims to replicate match intensity in practice, and Le Roux’s presence would help sharpen preparations ahead of this crucial clash.
He emphasised that every point in the final two fixtures could prove decisive in the Rugby Championship, making it vital for the Boks to maximise their training time and ensure they are fully prepared.
